At The Silver Stable we ensure that all our jewellery is compliant with all the United Kingdom's Hallmarking regulations.

Please see more information on Hallmarking and what the hallmark on your piece of jewellery means below.

It is a legal requirement to hallmark all semi precious metals such as silver, gold, platinum and palladium in the United Kingdom. All silver items above 7.78g and gold items above 1g should be hallmarked, anything under this weight is exempt.

The Silver Stable is registered with the Birmingham Assay office, who test and guarantee the precious metal content of the jewellery you are buying to give you reassurance that all our items are sterling silver and solid gold.

To learn more, click on the button below to read the Birmingham Assay office leaflet on Hallmarking.

For items in the Silver Stable collection with two mixed metals, such as sterling silver and solid 9ct gold, the full hallmark will be applied to the least noble material on the piece.

For example the piece will be stamped with the full 925 Sterling Silver hallmark and it will then also be stamped with a minor mark (i.e. just the fineness) to indicate the 9ct gold.
